For nearly a decade, I have had the privilege of serving PSJA ISD, the district that shaped me as a student and now fuels my passion as a professional. As an alum, my journey in leadership is deeply personal—rooted in a love for this community, a commitment to service, and a deep appreciation for the family unity that defines PSJA. Every day, I am humbled by the opportunity to give back to the district that gave me so much and to work alongside a team of dedicated educators and professionals who share a common purpose: preparing our students to succeed and excel.

Over the years, I’ve learned that leadership is a continuous journey of growth, resilience, and adaptability—not a destination. Challenges will arise, plans may change, and new opportunities will emerge, but true leadership is about how we respond, learn, and grow from every experience.

Here are a few lessons that have shaped me along the way:

1. Lead with Purpose and Heart

Leadership isn’t about titles or authority; it’s about trust, impact, and the ability to uplift others. No matter your position, when you lead with purpose and heart, you create change. More importantly, trust and empower your team—because leadership is not about doing everything alone but about building others up to achieve a shared vision.

2. Embrace Challenges as Growth Opportunities

Some of the biggest moments of growth come from the toughest challenges. Whether it’s managing a crisis, stepping into a new role, or adapting to change, lean into discomfort—it’s where leadership is forged. A growth mindset is essential—never stop learning, evolving, and seeking opportunities to grow.

3. Surround Yourself with People Who Challenge and Inspire You

Leadership is not a solo journey. The best leaders know when to listen, when to ask for help, and when to empower others. I am constantly inspired by the people I work with, and I am grateful to be part of a team that values collaboration, resilience, and innovation.

One of my favorite quotes is:

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Great things are not accomplished by one person, but by a team working together toward a shared mission.

My Leadership Philosophy: Servant Leadership

At the core of my leadership philosophy is servant leadership—the belief that true leaders serve others first. Whether it’s our students, staff, or community, my role is to amplify voices, provide clarity, and build trust.

As an alum of PSJA ISD, my leadership journey is a full-circle moment. This district poured into me as a student, and today, I have the opportunity to give back in a way that ensures future generations have even greater opportunities. That is the power of leadership rooted in purpose, resilience, and service.

To those aspiring to lead—your leadership starts where you are. Show up, serve well, embrace growth, and remain open to new opportunities. And always remember: leadership isn’t about being in charge, it’s about making a difference. Claudia V. Lemus Campos, APR PSJA ISD Communications & Marketing Director
